Last evening, Crawford County High School welcomed the Southern Indiana Education Center and Shireman Construction to speak with students in their Construction Pathway program about Modern Youth Apprenticeship opportunities for the upcoming school year. This partnership marks an exciting step toward expanding work-based learning (WBL) experiences for students in rural communities.
As part of SIEC’s nonprofit division, Project Protégé, we are proud to collaborate with schools like Crawford County to support students in gaining meaningful, real-world career experiences. Project Protégé cultivates a vibrant ecosystem of work-based learning in Southwestern Indiana—where students are empowered to explore future careers, employers engage in youth talent development, and small and rural communities prosper through sustainable economic growth.
Our visit to Crawford County was more than just a presentation—it was the beginning of an opportunity to bridge classroom learning with industry experience in a way that benefits students, schools, and employers alike. We’re excited to see districts like Crawford County leading the way and opening doors for their students through innovative, community-driven partnerships.
We look forward to continued collaboration and to supporting more schools across the region as we expand Modern Youth Apprenticeships through Project Protégé.
