MISSION

Project Protege cultivates and supports a vibrant ecosystem of work-based learning in Southwestern Indiana, where students engage in meaningful career experiences, employers develop a system of youth recruitment and talent development, and small and rural communities prosper through sustainable economic growth.

BUSINESS

Project Protege empowers businesses by creating sustainable talent development and recruitment strategies tailored to industry needs. By participating in this initiative, companies gain a competitive edge in attracting and retaining top talent, reducing long-term recruitment costs. Mentoring students provides a legacy opportunity for seasoned employees, boosting staff morale and strengthening company culture. Additionally, Project Protege helps businesses develop strategic relationships within their industry and community, enhancing their reputation and positioning them as leaders invested in local economic growth. This comprehensive approach fosters a positive perception of the company while ensuring a reliable, homegrown workforce pipeline.

STUDENTS

Project Protege deeply engages students by connecting them with meaningful career experiences that align with their interests and strengths. Research has shown that when students understand their skills and passions, they are more likely to pursue careers that bring them happiness and fulfillment, contributing to overall well-being and job satisfaction. By participating in work-based learning opportunities, students gain practical insights into their preferred fields, which enhances both their academic engagement and personal growth. Moreover, Project Protege fosters a strong sense of community and belonging by helping students build relationships with local industry mentors and peers. This sense of connection not only enriches their career journey but also encourages them to invest in and contribute to their community, creating a foundation for a fulfilling, purpose-driven life.

COMMUNITY

Project Protege is dedicated to fostering a culture of talent development within Southwestern Indiana, where the entire community actively supports and invests in its young workforce. By providing equitable opportunities for all youth, the program ensures that every student, regardless of background, can explore career paths and develop essential skills. The initiative emphasizes strategic planning and collaboration with industry partners, contributing to a skilled and engaged local workforce.

Participating businesses enhance their reputation and stability as active contributors to regional development, reinforcing the community’s commitment to supporting the next generation. Through mentoring and work-based learning (WBL) opportunities, Project Protege cultivates a sense of pride and shared investment in the area’s future. This collective effort helps build a vibrant, economically resilient community, where students are empowered to thrive and make meaningful contributions.
